
REDESIGN YOUR SCHOOL GARDEN/PLAYGROUND TO
SUPPORT POLLINATORS
(HALF-DAY WORKSHOP)



LEARN WITH PLASTIC SHED!

This workshop is recommended as a follow-up to the Creating a Plastic Pollinator workshop. Students get to expand on their learning of pollinators.
Aims:
Discuss and redesign the school's garden/playground space into a pollinator-friendly space.
KS1 Objectives:

Learning about biodiversity and why it matters through interactive games.

Discuss how we make the school garden/playground space pollinator-friendly through creative thinking activities.

As a class, work collectively to redesign the school's garden.
This supports the KS1 National Curriculum through Science (habitats and basic needs of animals), Sustainability (caring for local environments), Geography (observing local environments), and Art & Design (drawing and simple design work).
KS2 Objectives:

Identify why pollinators are important for maintaining biodiversity through interactive activities

Discuss how we can adapt the school garden/playground space to support pollinators and the wider ecosystem.

Learn different eco-friendly additions and adaptations to gardens to support ecosystems and biodiversity.

Each student will individually redesign the school's garden/playground space.

Reflect on their designs and create a collaborative finished garden as a group.
This supports the KS2 National Curriculum through Science (habitats, food chains, biodiversity), Sustainability (environmental responsibility and protecting ecosystems), Geography (local environment and fieldwork), and Design & Technology (purposeful design and evaluation).
