Workshop Aims:


Discuss the creative possibilities of different types of waste plastic and create a recycled-plastic pollinator per child.

KS1 Objectives:

  • Share Plastic Shed projects, emphasising the creative possibilities of plastic bottle lids, recycled plastic, community commitment and creative thinking.

  • Discover why pollinators are important and how pollination works through interactive activities.

  • Create a butterfly from recycled plastic bags.

 

This supports the KS1 National Curriculum through Science (plants and habitats),  Sustainability (introducing recycling and caring for the environment), and Art & Design and Design & Technology (using materials creatively to make simple products).

 

KS2 Objectives:

  • Share Plastic Shed projects, emphasising the creative possibilities of plastic bottle lids, recycled plastic, community commitment and creative thinking.

  • Go over local recycling practises with interactive games.

  • Discover why pollinators are important and how pollination works through interactive activities.

  • Discover design possibilities with plastic waste materials.

  • Design and create a plastic pollinator from waste plastic bags.

 

This supports the KS2 National Curriculum by covering Science (plant reproduction and pollination, ecosystems and interdependence), Sustainability (understanding recycling, environmental impact and responsible use of materials), Design & Technology (design, make and evaluate), and Art & Design (creative use of materials). 

Whats Included:

  • All materials provided

  • Introduction to Plastic Shed projects and how children can recycle plastic creatively.

  • Guided hands-on workshop

  • Each child makes and takes home a creation

  • Setup and tidy-up included

Cost:

  • Half Day Workshop  

    • from £230

  • Full Day Workshop

    • from £360

  • (Workshops can be combined or repeated) For example, 2 half-day workshops can be booked as a full day.

Duration:

  • 2 Hour workshop:

  • 15 - minute Presentation

  • 90 - minute workshop

  • 15 - minute Reflection & Questions

Location:

  • We can come to your school or chosen venue (Must be in Greater Manchester, have tables and access to electricity required)

  • Or we can host you at Plastic Shed (available from July 2026)

Safety and Supervision:

Due to the use of heated equipment (iron), a supervising adult must be present and actively involved during the workshop.

The workshop host will guide all activities; however, an additional adult is required to:

  • Assist with the supervised ironing process or Support children during making

20% of all bookings and sales directly support the running of Plastic Shed.
